IUP Alumni Office Hosts the 2013 Young Alumni Achievement Awards

Indiana University of Pennsylvania hosted the 2013 Young Alumni Achievement Awards in November 2013. In conjunction with the IUP Alumni Office, the IUP Ambassadors were involved with this prestigious event.
IUP recognized six young alumni who have had significant achievements within their respective careers. The six alumni were:
College of Education and Educational Technology: Heidi Higbee ’05 (3rd Grade Teacher and Author, East Pike Elementary, Indiana Area School District)
College of Fine Arts: Trisha Rae Stahl ’98 (Actress GLEE, Program Coordinator, Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services)
College of Health and Human Services: Melissa Leiden Welsh ’99 (Secretary and Tri-Owner Leiden Land and Cattle Company, Inc.)
College of Humanities and Social Sciences: Seth Mitchell M’11 (Manager of Cultural Resources/Senior Archeologist, AK Environmental)
College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics: Dr. Matthew Whited ’03 (Psychologist, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, East Carolina University)
Representing Eberly College of Business and Information Technology: Brian Urban ’09 (Health Educator-Case Manager Specialist, Cigna Behavioral Health Inc.).YAAA On Monday, November 4, 2013, a luncheon was held for the award recipients. After the luncheon, the IUP Ambassadors along with the IUP Alumni Office held a networking event in the afternoon that was open to the general campus. This gave the campus an opportunity to hear each alumni’s respective successful stories and how those stories originated from their education at IUP.
Tim Lynch, IUP Ambassador Vice President of University Relations, along with his University Relations committee worked closely with the IUP Alumni Office to throw this prestigious event. Lynch was thrilled with the success of the event, “It was a huge success and above all, an enjoyable event. I look forward to doing it all again next year with the IUP Ambassadors!” The IUP Ambassadors are currently beginning preparations for the 2014 Young Alumni Achievement Awards set for November 2014.
