office update

If you have been in Breezedale lately (or if you haven’t) you’ll notice a new face in the office!

Madison Sabo joined the Alumni Association staff over the week of Spring Break. Recently IĀ got the chance to sit down with Maddie and learn a little bit about her.

Maddie is a former ambassador (’11-’12) who excitedly has returned to work in the Alumni Office and with the Ambassadors. She grew up in Indiana, Pa and graduated from Indiana High School in 2009. She attended IUP where she earned her undergraduate degree in Hospitality Management. While at IUP she worked in the University Events office and was a member of the IUP Ambassadors.

After graduation she moved to Pittsburgh where she worked in catering for Giant Eagle Market District, and then returned to Indiana where she worked as the Rustic Lodge event manager, as well as manager at the Grape Vine before joining us in the Alumni Office.

As a former ambassador, Maddie said that she enjoys seeing that things have and have not changed within the organization. The structural change that took place this year being the most notable difference. She agrees that the family aspect is an important factor, and is happy that it remains. She is proud that the organization continues to be a group of students that are involved with the university in so many different ways, and that it continues to have such a high standard of students.

Besides working with the Alumni Office, Maddie is also heavily involved in the Indiana community. She sits as President of the Indiana Arts Council, and Vice President of QUOTA which is a non-profit organization that works to empower women, children, deaf, and speech-impaired people in communities around the world.

Maddie said that she has enjoyed all of her jobs, but always liked her job on campus the best, which is why she is very excited to be back here working with the ambassadors.
