Ambassadors Host Distinguished Alumni

Indiana University of Pennsylvania hosted the 2014 Distinguished Alumni Awards this past April. The IUP Ambassadors were involved with event in connection with the IUP Alumni office. During the event nine university alumni were honored for their achievements in their fields since graduating from IUP. The recipients were:

• College of Education and Educational Technology: Barbara Haas Bridges ’74 (Founder and President, The Barbara A. Bridges Family Foundation and the Women+Film nonprofit organization)
• College of Health and Human Services: L. Edwin Brown M’77 (Retired, Executive Director, American Culinary Federation Education Institute)
• College of Fine Arts: Peter J. Calaboyias M’69 (Professor of Art; Artist and Sculptor)
• Eberly College of Business and Information Technology: Phillip D. Carrai ’83 (President, Technology and Training Solutions, Kratos Defense and Security Solutions)
• College of Fine Arts: Ian Gallaner ’86 (Founding Artist Director, Chesapeake Shakespeare Company)
• College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics: Thomas O’Dell ’83 (Professor, Department of Physiology, UCLA)
• College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics: Colonel Andrew C. Peters ’88 (Brigade Commander, United States Army)
• College of Education and Educational Technology: Jonathan C. Sinclair ’90 (Executive Vice President and Executive Producer, Harpo Studios, Inc.)
• Eberly College of Business and Information Technology: Theodore R. Young ’89 (Midwest Region Tax Leader/Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers

Along with honoring these nine alumni, the event also awarded the 2014 Distinguished Alumni Award for Service. The recipient was:
• College of Humanities and Social Sciences: Sandra Koeppl Barsotti ’87 (Director of Marketing,
Direct Response Technologies)

The Distinguished Alumni were on campus throughout the weekend of April 12th meeting with students and attending luncheons and dinners. The IUP Ambassadors assisted with planning some of the events through the University Relations Committee, led by Vice President of UR Levi McClure, as well as certain members of the organization acting as host and hostess for each recipient.
